It’s Piniella — officially. October 18, 2006

Posted by chuckwh in Chicago Cubs, Lou Piniella.

Well, I was wrong about Sweet Lou’s age. He’s 63, not 67. And it’s now official, he’s the new Cubs’ manager. So he’s five years younger than I thought, which is good. All Cubs fans can do now is hope for the best, and hope Jim Hendry can bring the guy a few decent players.

I am a Seattle Mariners Fan. And Let me tell you, Lou Piniella saved major league baseball in Seattle. With A-Rod, Junior, Edgar, Jamie, Ichiro and The Big Unit a small miracle occured and MLB lives in Seattle. Safeco Field. The last couple years have been mediocre and let me tell you Mariners fans still bow to Lou Piniella and he is always going to have a special place for us. Good luck wherever you go Lou but I wish you were here again. Maybe next year.

Good to hear. When it Cubs to my prognostications regarding the Cubs, I generally want to be wrong.
